EVERYONE of us, at some point in life, will have an opportunity to move forward or to do something significant.Though all of us, one way or the other, are affected by our social and economic background, culture, our access to certain levels of education, family background and development, we can still change the course of our lives if we learn how to maximise the law of opportunity. In life, there is always something we can do differently in order to move forward or change course. Success is not just a matter of chance but about how you deal with given circumstances in life. We must all learn how to react properly to foreseeable and unpredictable situations of life.
The Biblical proverb declares; ‘Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her,” Proverbs 3:13-15. Wisdom is more than the ability to deal with mathematical calculations, geometrical abstractions or memory tests; it’s the divine endowment that gives one the ability to navigate through relationships, financial issues and professional tumults on the way to a fulfilled lifestyle.
When preparedness collides with opportunity on the high way of life, the impact will always cause destiny to explode. Every opportunity is pregnant with life changing encounters and potential. It is, therefore, imperative to realise that the road to destiny is sometimes filled with many curves and potholes of dark moments, and no one is exempted from such moments. Life is usually a combination of good and bad days, strength and weakness, victories and defeats, win and lose, give and take, plant and reap, and so forth. When trouble and problems arise, some people rise higher and become greater, while others sink deeper into different levels of depression, discouragement and hopelessness. Problems or crises mean different things to different people.
Only those who maintain spiritual and mental stability during crises are able to see hidden opportunities in the chaos. Every problem has an answer or solution. Just because we cannot articulate the solution right now, does not mean there is no answer to our situation. Usually, the problem is not really the problem, the real problem is in fact how we see or perceive the problem.
Sometimes the potential of a people, community or nation is released through challenges. Many inventions in the world came about because of frustrations, or social problems. The challenges we have today as a nation must be used as an opportunity to correct past mistakes, align certain things and introduce a new era of nation building. Maximising opportunities demands radical actions, focus and determination.
